Artist and researcher Sougwen Chung explores human and non-human collaboration through their multifaceted practice in AI, AR, performance, installation, and drawing. Their latest digital sculpture commissioned by Gemma, Mandala 1 - Gaian Notation, uses dimensional marks made in virtual reality and then translated through custom software to create a gestural meditation on nature, ritual, and technology.
As with their previous NFT works, Chung aims to use blockchain-based interactions in support of mutual aid networks. 100% of the proceeds from the mints will be donated to EV Loves NYC, an East Village grassroots organization that provides food services to New Yorkers in need.
“I've learned a lot through being curious and interested. Not dedicating myself to any one set of tools has allowed me to poeticize errors and appreciate their significance in a system.”
