LoVid’s YES** Color Recall is an animated video NFT capturing the multi-sensory immersive experiences that are associated with vast natural environments. Featuring a tapestry-like form paired with a filtered photograph of a snowy landscape, the piece draws a parallel between the mesmerizing colors that appear as your eyes adjust to fresh, bright snow, and the artist duo’s analog and algorithmically-generated recording techniques. Deep pinks, saturated blues, and neon purples seem to undulate and ripple like energy fields, where the longer you look, the more the nuances of the piece unfold.
“It's a meditative color game where we’re working between digital and analog recordings, trying to find where they interact in an interesting way. Overall, we’re seeking a sense of dimension that brings together a feeling of luminosity and contrast. Together, all these elements create a woven,
LoVid is composed of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus. As a collaborative pair, their interdisciplinary works explore the often invisible or intangible aspects of contemporary society, such as communication systems and biological signals. They are particularly interested in the ways technology seeps into the evolution of human culture.
LoVid’s work has been presented internationally at venues including Wave Hill, MoMA, The Kitchen, New Museum, ICA London, and International Film Festival Rotterdam (Netherlands). LoVid’s projects have received support from organizations including The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Graham Foundation, Eyebeam, Rhizome, NY State Council of the Arts, and many others.
LoVid’s videos are distributed by EAI and their work is in the collection of the Whitney Museum, The Parrish Museum, Thoma Foundation, and the Heckscher Museum, among others.
